For over 25 years, we have been producing nutritious, medically-tailored meals from our FDA-registered facility in Morganton, North Carolina.
Our Story
From Small Kitchen to National Producer
American Food Service began with a mission that still drives us today: feeding people who need it most. Starting with Meals on Wheels partnerships, we served communities across North Carolina and provided nutritious meals to the elderly, homebound, and underserved.
As our reputation grew, we expanded into Medicaid meal programs. By 2018, we had developed specialized chronic care recipes: highly nutritional, medically tailored meals designed for people managing diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions.
Today, we produce meals for partners ranging from nationally recognized D2C brands to Meals on Wheels programs nationwide. We also serve the growing need for softer foods for seniors, patients undergoing radiation therapy, and anyone requiring modified texture meals. Our products are now available through retail channels nationwide.

Our FDA-registered production facility is purpose-built for scaled meal production. With dedicated allergen-safe areas, cold-chain logistics, and state-of-the-art equipment, we are equipped to handle high-volume runs without compromising quality.
Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Morganton gives us access to regional suppliers and a central distribution point for nationwide shipping.
